Position Summary:
The Track & Field Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the high school track and field program. This includes organizing practices and meets, instructing athletes in techniques and conditioning, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, ensuring student-athlete safety, and upholding the academic and athletic standards of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Plan, organize, and conduct effective daily practices for all track and field events.
-Teach proper technique, conditioning, and event-specific skills to student-athletes.
-Supervise all athletes at practices, meets, and during travel.
-Manage and maintain track and field equipment and facilities.
-Develop lineups and meet entries in accordance with team strategy and athlete strengths.
-Promote a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes effort, respect, and integrity.
-Monitor academic progress and eligibility of all team members.
-Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, athletic director, and assistant coaches.
-Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic association policies.
-Model exemplary behavior and sportsmanship at all times.
-Coordinate off-season training and conditioning programs (as permitted).
