Duties

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories and vital signs to ensure safe treatment planning.
• Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) using dental imaging equipment while maintaining proper infection control protocols.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice tailored to individual needs.
• Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and managing medical records securely.
• Ensure infection prevention measures are followed diligently through aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
• Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical coding, documentation review, and appointment scheduling in compliance with healthcare standards.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
• Proven experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments, with familiarity in pediatric dentistry preferred.
• Proficiency in using dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and documentation.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to oral health care.
• Skilled in chairside assisting, dental equipment operation, and X-ray procedures with a focus on safety and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills for client education and team collaboration; ability to explain procedures clearly to patients of all ages.
• Demonstrated understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including aseptic technique.
• Ability to perform patient assessments accurately while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
• Knowledge of EMR/EHR management systems, medical coding practices, and HIPAA compliance requirements is highly desirable.
