The Winterthur Public Safety Department seeks a dedicated and proactive Shift Leader to oversee daily shift operations within our public safety team. The shift lead is a member of the Department Leadership Team.

The Shift Leader will serve as the primary point of contact during their shift, managing public safety personnel and responding promptly to any incidents or emergencies.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate security staff during assigned shifts, ensuring coverage and adherence to schedules
- Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) and conduct regular patrols to identify potential security risks or breaches
- Enforce organizational policies and procedures and Public Safety SOPs.
- Respond swiftly and effectively to incidents, conflicts, or emergencies, utilizing conflict management skills as needed
- Conduct regular safety checks and ensure all security equipment is functioning properly
- Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate relevant information to management
- Provide first aid or CPR in emergency situations when necessary
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during investigations or incidents requiring external assistance
- Train new team members on security procedures, surveillance operations, and conflict resolution techniques
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of proven experience in security, law enforcement, military service.
- Must have supervisory or management experience directing a shift of public safety officers.
- Certifications in CPR, first aid, or conflict management highly desirable
- Knowledge of surveillance systems (CCTV) and loss prevention strategies
- Strong leadership abilities with excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally
- Demonstrated conflict management skills with a focus on de-escalation techniques
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, or holidays as needed
