Job Summary As Technical Account Manager for the Western US territory, you'll lead sales growth, client relationships, and service delivery for seed companies, research institutions, universities, and agribusinesses. You'll manage a team of remote service technicians, conduct technical demos and support, prepare quotes and handle after-sales, and play a key role in North American product management—gathering/aligning feedback on customer needs and collaborating with the team to influence development. While focused on Western territory expansion, you'll have opportunities to grow local midwest accounts. This high-impact role combines consultative sales, remote team leadership, technical expertise, and strategic product input.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Service Leadership in Territory
- Manage, supervise, and monitor all sales and service activities within the Western US territory to achieve revenue targets and high client satisfaction.
- Directly manage a team of remote service technicians: assign calls, monitor performance/quality, provide coaching/training, handle scheduling/on-call rotations, and ensure timely installations, repairs, and maintenance.
- Prepare accurate quotes, bids, and proposals for equipment, components, and services; present to clients and coordinate with internal staff.
- Meet regularly with account representatives to build relationships, review progress, address needs, and ensure sales goals are met or exceeded.
- Evaluate and make warranty claim decisions based on technical assessment and circumstances.
- Perform minor machine repairs on-site during sales trips or client visits as needed.
- Deliver product demonstrations, operator trainings, clinics, and technical presentations (on-site or virtual)
- Represent the company at North American trade shows and industry events to promote products, network, stay informed on customer needs/competitor developments, and generate leads.
- Collaborate with other team members to define and align North American market needs, ensuring customer requirements are met.
- Train and educate staff on product knowledge, applications, and updates.
- Review sales forecasts, production planning, and orders with the GM; approve orders and clarify technical details as needed.
- Contribute to composing development roadmaps for local North American projects and custom solutions.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
- 4 years in technical sales, account management, field service leadership, or product management in agriculture, seed/plant breeding, precision ag equipment, or related fields.
- Demonstrated success in consultative selling, quote preparation, relationship building, and revenue achievement.
- Valid driver's license with clean record (heavy travel; company vehicle, fuel, and maintenance fully covered).
- Willingness to travel 25-35% (primarily Western US; occasional international if required).
- Proficiency with CRM, Microsoft Office, and technical/service tools.
Preferred:
- Experience in seed research, plant breeding technology, or ag machinery sales/service.
- Proven experience managing/supervising remote or field-based teams (e.g., technicians/service personnel), including performance coaching and coordination.
