School Nurse
TITLE: School Nurse
DEPARTMENT: K-12 School Nurses
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Assistant Principal
RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM: Director of Special Programs and Building Administrator
BASIC FUNCTION:
The school nurse supports the well-being and educational achievement of PK-12 students by delivering professional healthcare services, managing medical needs, and fostering a safe, healthy school community.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
R.N with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
Current Iowa License
Knowledge of professional standards (Nurse Practice-Act) and other statutes
Desired:
Previous experience in similar position
Experience working with children/students
Experience working with children/students with varying degrees of health care needs.

Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established in accordance with provisions of the Comprehensive Agreement.

Physical Requirements: Bending, carrying, climbing, travel between job sites, lifting, pushing-pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, and walking
Working Conditions: Includes extremes of temperature and humidity. Hazards include stairs and communicable diseases.
