The Professional Instructor is primarily responsible for teaching alpine skiing and/or snowboarding to the guests of Winter Park Resort aged 2 through adult. Lessons are taught using methods prescribed by the Winter Park Ski & Ride School with an emphasis on safety and fun to meet or exceed the expectations of our guests. WPSRS promotes Instructors’ professional development with extensive on-snow training opportunities with top-tier educators plus financial aid for PSIA/AASI certification exams. Instructors are eligible for sales incentives, hourly incentives, and tips that may significantly increase their take home pay.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, hear, stand, ski or snowboard, utilize a chairlift or gondola, navigate uneven or challenging terrain, lift/pull/carry up to 50 pounds. These physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Teach lessons as assigned including groups, private lessons, or special programs for adults and/or children ages 2-14 using current methods & age appropriate tactics to meet and exceed our guests expectations. Work assignments will vary daily
- Be friendly, engaged, and helpful towards guests and other employees at all times
- Report to all assignments on time and at the correct location
- Use a phone & email to communicate with staff and guests, to regularly review your schedule & pay, and to maintain accurate class records
- Facilitate guests’ needs throughout the day including bio breaks, meals, using lifts, etc. Children must be escorted at all times
- Prioritize guest safety in addition to your own. Proactively resolve or report concerns or issues.
- Support operations including greeting guests, shadowing or assisting others, operating surface lifts, setup/cleanup, etc.
- Set a positive & professional example for other employees as well as our guests
- Maintain sufficient physical conditioning
- Adhere to all Ski Ride School and Resort policies
- Other duties as assigned
- Applicants must be 18 on their start date
- Enjoys working outside with guests of all ages and abilities
- Experience working with children is preferred
- Experience coaching or teaching any subject is preferred
- Required: Ski parallel or ride switch on all green and groomed blue terrain. Your ski/snowboard ability may be evaluated
- Own or have regular access to all appropriate gear. Your gear may be inspected for safety
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Hourly Teaching Wage Range: $21 - $45.15 depending on experience according to the WPSRS pay plan
- Hourly Non-Teaching Wage: $20
- Private Lesson Request Incentive starts at $9/hour. Hourly teaching incentives and tips are available.
