Summary
The Supply Chain Manager will work under the general guidance of Operations Manager to oversee the sourcing, procurement, logistics and inventory management of drilling fluids products to support the growing Geothermal, Oil & Gas markets. This role includes managing both outside suppliers and internal team of drivers and warehouse resources.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Logistics (Management movement and storage of materials, right place right time):
- Partnered closely with the Operations Manager to ensure seamless day-to-day operations and uphold high service standards day to day.
- Negotiate and optimize delivery and warehousing costs.
- Collaboration with HSE manager on warehouse safety.
2. Inventory Management (Planning, Inventory Control / Inventory Turns):
- Maintain the optimal inventory mix to support critical customer requirements.
- Oversee optimal inventory levels / Days of Inventory Outstanding (DIO) < 75 Days.
3. Sourcing (Market Research, Supplier Evaluation, RFQ, On-boarding):
- Evaluation and selection of quality suppliers.
- Drive cost savings through sourcing optimization and vendor consolidation (i.e., eliminate “middlemen” to purchase from manufacturers and OEMs).
- Maintain alternate suppliers for all mission critical products.
4. Procurement (POs, Receiving, A/P, Compliance):
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for drilling fluids products.
- Price negotiation, build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Review, improve and design purchasing processes to include A/P payments and compliance.
5. Operations & Leadership Support:
- Collaborate and support Operations Manager to deliver excellent services to customers.
- Consult with and provide KPI metrics to Executive Management Team
Required Skills & Knowledge
- 5-10 years supply chain management experience (preferably in the oil & gas industry)
- 5-10 years of downstream industry experience, sales experience a plus
- Passion for negotiations and developing strong relationships with suppliers
- Experience supporting projects and drilling fluids proposals
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent customer follow-up and responsiveness skills
- Ability to work independently or on a team
- Outstanding relationship-building skills
- Ability to interact with all levels of management
- Excellent understanding of technical concepts
- Experience in strategic planning, a plus
- Ability to travel up to 100%
- Drilling fluids operation: 5 years (Preferred)
- Oil & gas: 5 years (Preferred)
Education
- B.S Chemical Engineer preferred or B.B.A. in Supply Chain Management is PREFERRED
