Position Summary
The Driver/Warehouse position ensures that all incoming equipment and material is accurately counted, identified, documented, and stored. This position is also responsible for ensuring inventory is delivered to or picked up from customers in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, while providing the highest possible level of customer service.
Job Responsibilities
- Comply with all established procedures for receiving inventory.
- Examine all incoming shipments, record shortages, overages, damages or any discrepancies on receiving documentation and obtain signature of the carrier.
- Direct the handling and placement of material received to their proper location.
- Maintain a well-organized, safeguarded, clean, and bin located warehouse and yard.
- Communicate on potential inventory needs and gaps in fill rates.
- Monitor obsolete and slow-moving inventory and communicate ideas for minimizing.
- Operate company-owned vehicles in a safe manner, ensuring that all traffic laws are obeyed, and safety procedures are followed.
- Assist in loading and unloading of merchandise on vehicle, ensuring the load is safely distributed in the vehicle and that proper material handling practices are used.
- Follow assigned delivery schedule, ensuring deliveries are made in a timely fashion by the most cost-effective route.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the requirements for Department of Transportation hazardous materials signage, bills of lading and awareness of Material Safety Data Sheet requirements.
- Inspect vehicle daily and complete the required paperwork. Maintain vehicle in neat and clean condition.
- Promptly report operating problems or maintenance needs on vehicles.
- Maintain a vehicle maintenance log for each vehicle owned by the Company.
Job Requirements
- Possess a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and be 18 years of age (or older if required by State law)
- Superior organizational and time management skills
- Proficiency in related applications in the WISE system
- Operate material handling equipment
- Must work well with other people. Help management, co-workers, customers and others meet their objectives and complete their assignments.
- Operate vehicle with a standard transmission
- Knowledge of city and outlying delivery area
- Work with minimum supervision
