Winpak is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to join their Finance team based out of Sauk Village, Illinois.
In this role, you will act as a key financial partner to plant operations, providing insight into manufacturing performance, cost drivers, and operational efficiency. You will support decision-making by delivering meaningful analysis on production, inventory, and spending, while ensuring strong financial controls. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with operations and translating financial data into actionable business insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with plant leadership to monitor financial performance and ensure adherence to company policies and internal controls
- Develop and deliver reporting to analyze manufacturing variances, key performance indicators, and operational trends
- Identify, implement, and track process improvements across plant functions
- Oversee inventory cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate inventory valuation
- Monitor capital project spending, ensuring compliance and timely project closeout
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, including development of work center rates and manufacturing budgets
- Perform account reconciliations and ensure accuracy of standard costing
- Support internal and external audits and maintain compliance with financial reporting requirements
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive operational and financial performance improvements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 5 years of experience in a cost accounting or manufacturing accounting role
- 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
- 3 years of experience partnering with operations or cross-functional teams to support business decisions
- 3 years of experience analyzing and interpreting large data sets from enterprise resource planning systems
- 3 years of experience communicating financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- 5 years of experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and financial modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional accounting designation (CPA/CMA)
- 3 years of experience with standard costing methodologies, including work center rates and variance analysis
- 3 years of experience with inventory accounting, including cycle counts and inventory valuation
- 3 years of experience using business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI
- Experience developing manufacturing budgets and forecasts
- Experience with activity-based costing and capital project accounting
Additional Details:
- This position offers a full time onsite or hybrid schedule
Compensation range: $80,000 - $96,000
The compensation range provided is a general guideline only. Pay will be determined based on the candidate's experience and expertise and is subject to vary.
