Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist - Exempt
0.8 FTE, 64 hours per pay period
Hours between 6:30 and 10 pm
Every fifth holiday and weekend rotation
*Starting salary between $125,028.80 - $156,291.20 based on experience
Position Overview:
The Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist in our organization has a wide array of responsibilities relating to direct patient care. Our clinical pharmacy service is highly valued by our physicians and nursing staff. It is the expectation of the pharmacist to participate in clinical decision-making, assisting in the development of clinical pathways, as well as providing nursing and physician education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- The Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist is also responsible for the daily operation of the pharmacy. They will supervise and coordinate activities of the pharmacy support staff with respect to accurate and efficient medication dispensing, maintaining records, inventory, and security.
- This position is best served by a highly motivated individual with strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
- Clinical duties include medication reconciliation, rounding with physicians, reviewing patient profiles, and making recommendations including drug therapy adjustments, dosing, hyperalimentation monitoring, and addressing specific drug information requests by medical and nursing staff.
- Inpatient Clinical Pharmacist functions include verifying or entering physician orders, supervising, checking, and certifying activities of pharmacy technicians, maintain prescription and controlled substance records as required, extemporaneous compounding, and prescription processing.
- Special projects may include developing of clinical pathways, participating in clinical meetings, updating policies and procedures, performance improvement, precepting students, and building and maintaining pharmacy technology databases.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in the State of Minnesota
- Intermediate Computer Skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Patient Information Database (Cerner and PioneerRx)
Preferred:
- BLS Certification
- ACLS Certification
- PALS Certification
- Previous clinical pharmacy experience
- State of Minnesota Pharmacy Preceptor Certificate
Work Environment:
Will be working with other pharmacists, and technicians in a hospital setting interacting with physicians, nurses and other clinical professionals. The work environment is generally fast-paced with a medium stress level requiring multi-tasking and interruptions. The work conditions are clean in a controlled room temperature environment. Prolonged standing may be required.
Required Work Schedule:
Days/evenings, hours between 6:30 am – 10:00 pm. Shifts vary from 8-12 hours. Is required to work every fifth weekend. Coverage for evenings, weekends, and holidays will rotate among staff.
Salary : $125,029 - $156,291
