WinnMed is seeking to hire a Pharmacy Technician in the Pharmacy Department!
This position is unique and will share duties in the WinnMed Retail Pharmacy and Inpatient Hosptial Pharmacy. Hours per week = 40 (1.0 FTE)
The Pharmacy Technician will function under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. This position supports pharmacy services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications to patients by interpreting the order, calculating the dosage, packaging the order, and labeling the product. The pharmacy technician is also responsible for a variety of clerical duties in the pharmacy setting including, but not limited to, data entry/ software utilization and answering phones.
Retail Specific Duties:
- point of sale activities, include helping customers in the drive-thru
- Refill request processing
- Insurance processing and prior authorization management
- Properly trained technicians may also administer vaccines under the supervision of the registered pharmacist.
Inpatient Hospital Specific Duties:
- Stocking Pyxis
- Entering medication charges into EPIC
- Delivering medications to other hospital departments
- Cleaning and compounding in compliance with USP 797.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Certification from the Pharmacy Certification Board and Registration with Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners required.
- Basic Data entry and/or computer skills required
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Previous hospital experience beneficial.
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
