The Middle School Food Service Kitchen Manager is responsible for the daily operation of the school kitchen, ensuring the preparation and service of nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This position oversees food production, inventory management, food safety compliance, and kitchen staff while supporting the district's commitment to providing healthy meals for all students.
Essential Responsibilities-
Plan, prepare, and serve breakfast and lunch meals in accordance with USDA, state, and district nutrition guidelines.
Supervise, schedule, train, and support kitchen staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
Monitor food quality, portion sizes, and meal presentation.
Work with the District Food Service Director to order food, supplies, and equipment while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and controlling costs.
Receive and inspect deliveries for quality and accuracy.
Complete required production records, temperature logs, inventory reports, and other documentation accurately and on time.
Operate and maintain commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure the kitchen, serving areas, storage rooms, and equipment remain clean and organized.
Foster a positive dining experience by providing friendly and courteous service to students, staff, and visitors.
Work collaboratively with school administrators, district food service leadership, and staff to support school initiatives and special events.
Participate in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications-
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in commercial, institutional, or school food service preferred.
Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and USDA school nutrition regulations preferred.
Obtain any certifications needed.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
