Job Title: Courier, Part-Time
Department: Highway
Position Summary:
Under supervision, transport inter-departmental deliveries within Winnebago County; runs a variety or errands, which necessitate the use of a vehicle; receives incoming packages and supplies and distributes supplies.
Reporting Relationship:
- The part time courier reports to the County Highway Operations Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Drives vehicle to run errands for Highway Department, including picking up repair parts and merchandise.
2. Signs for packages delivered to facility, checks merchandise received against packing slip, reports missing merchandise to departments ordering them.
3. Maintains cleanliness in storage and dock area; cleans, ensures proper gas and oil levels and recommends needed repair on facility vehicles.
4. Assists in grounds maintenance as needed.
5. Performs all duties in accordance with County policies and procedures.
6. Performs other duties as required or assigned.
7. Regular attendance is required, overtime as needed/scheduled.
Education and Experience:
- Requires completion of four years of high school or general education diploma.
- Class “D” Driver’s License required.
- Previous experience and/or knowledge in auto mechanics or related field preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass required physical examinations.
- Ability to drive standard automotive vehicles with skill and safety.
- Ability to perform minor maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to stock and otherwise maintain storage area neatly and with order.
- Establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
