Position Overview:
As the Network Administrator, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, maintenance, and security of network infrastructure that supports our broadcast and business operations. This includes supporting on-air systems, IP-based video workflows, newsroom networks, and remote contribution links. You will collaborate closely with broadcast engineers, IT staff, and content production teams to ensure seamless, 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor LAN/WAN infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems
- Support IP-based broadcast systems such as video over IP (SMPTE 2110, NDI, Dante, etc.)
- Ensure uptime of mission-critical systems including automation servers, playout systems, and streaming encoders
- Perform routine maintenance, firmware updates, and system backups
- Troubleshoot network issues affecting broadcast and IT systems
- Implement cybersecurity best practices to protect sensitive data and systems
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and processes
- Work closely with vendors and service providers on technical support and infrastructure projects
- Provide after-hours/on-call support as needed in a 24/7 broadcasting environment
Required:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Broadcast Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years experience in network administration
- Strong understanding of IP networking, VLANs, QoS, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs
- Experience with Cisco, Ubiquiti, or similar networking platforms
- Knowledge of broadcast systems such as automation servers, media asset management, and IP-based contribution/distribution
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices and tools (firewalls, endpoint protection, etc.)
- Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills
- Experience in a live TV or media production environment
- Familiarity with SMPTE 2110, Dante, NDI, or other AV-over-IP protocols
- Network or Cisco (CCNA) certification
- Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods
- Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via video
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Visual and auditory ability to operate standard office, recording, and production equipment
- Ability to traverse the workspace including stairs daily
