POSITION: Shelter / Crisis Line Worker - PT
SCHEDULE / HOURS:
- Saturday & Sunday / 8:00 am to 4:00 pm or 4:00 pm to 12 midnight (every other week)
- Holidays (must work at least 6 out of 11 days)
- Additional Fill-In Shifts available
- averages 16 hours / week
RESPONSIBLE TO: Shelter Manager
QUALIFICATIONS AND RECOMMENDED KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
- High School diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
- Prior work experience in residential or social services.
- Demonstrated ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Professional and compassionate attitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Basic computer skills with experience in word processing and data entry.
- Access to reliable transportation.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage day-to-day operation of shelter during shift.
- Answer all incoming calls. Give information or make referrals as needed.
- Answer crisis line and assess need for emergency shelter or other services. Contact on-call designee when needed.
- Coordinate arrangements for incoming clients.
- Conduct intake and orientation with new resident clients.
- Provide individual support and assist resident clients with daily needs.
- Maintain communication with Supervisor and Assistant Director. Alert them to any problems or high-risk situations that arise.
- Identify and report maintenance and safety problems.
- Maintain daily log documenting crisis calls, shelter admissions, significant shift events, and safety issues.
- Complete all necessary documentation for client files.
- Maintain an accurate record of all services and activities.
- Enter services provided and client data into case management database.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $16.00 per hour
