The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) Manager is responsible for managing staff schedules, coordinating training, planning and supervising weekend outings, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and ensuring effective communication across all shifts and departments. The BHS Manager serves as a leader, supporting staff development and promoting a positive, therapeutic, and safe environment.
Responsibilities
Staff Management & Scheduling
- Develop and manage BHS staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
- Adjust staffing as needed based on census, acuity, and program needs.
- Approve time off requests and update schedules.
- Manage call offs with the leadership team by documenting and tracking call offs and attendance policy write-ups and moving staff around to fill voids and coordinate shift coverage when available.
Training & Development
- Coordinate new hire orientation and ongoing training.
- Support staff in developing therapeutic and professional skills.
- Identify and address performance concerns promptly and constructively.
- Maintain staff compliance with CPI and competencies.
Program Oversight & Activities
- Approve, organize, and oversee planning for weekend outings and therapeutic activities.
- Ensuring outings and group activities align with treatment goals and safety protocols.
- Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to maintain consistent behavioral interventions.
Communication & Coordination
- Serve as a communication link between leadership, clinical, nursing, and BHS teams.
- Communicate important updates, policy changes, and program information to staff.
Work Expectations
- Work on the floor at least 4 out of 5 shifts per week providing direct patient care and function as part of the BHS staffing pattern, counting toward the required staff-to-patient ratio.
- Dedicate 4-8 hours per week to managerial responsibilities while still present on site to support staff and patients if needed.
Pay: $ $26.00 per hour
