What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Test Strategist – Quality Assurance position at Wing Stop?
WHO WE ARE
We’re not in the wing business. We’re in the flavor business. It’s been our mission to Serve the World Flavor since we first opened in 1994, and we’re just getting started. 1997 saw the opening of our first brand partner operated Wingstop location, and by 2002 we had served the world one billion wings. It’s flavor that defines us and has made Wingstop one of the fastest growing brands in the restaurant industry.
Above all else – our success is largely due to our people and our core values, or what we call The Wingstop Way of being entrepreneurial, service-minded, fun, and authentic. We believe having a strong people foundation centered on these collective values creates a crave-worthy culture and talented team, as well as ensures our brand is poised for accelerated growth. We all win together.
WHAT WE'LL NEED
We’re looking for a seasoned Senior Test Strategist – Quality Assurance who can do more than just test — someone who lives and breathes quality, champions the customer, wrangles complex data for test scenarios, and partners like a boss across Product, Engineering, and Business teams. You’ll be the voice of quality throughout the lifecycle, shaping testing strategies, building robust data sets, facilitating story clarity, and even moonlighting as a mini-scrum master when needed. Coding isn’t required — but being an all-around quality ringleader is.
If you're equal parts QA veteran, BA detective, and team whisperer, we want you.
- Champion Quality: Own testing strategy and execution for your squad — from requirement grooming to production validation.
- Build Test Data & Scenarios: Design and manage complex test data to mimic real-world workflows, edge cases, and delightful chaos.
- Collaborate Deeply: Work with Product Owners, Developers, Designers, and fellow QA to ensure clear acceptance criteria, test coverage, and readiness.
- Lead UAT & Exploratory Testing: Coordinate user acceptance testing, exploratory test sessions, and signoffs with key stakeholders.
- QA/BA Hybrid Work: Drive story clarifications, facilitate 3 Amigos conversations, and translate business needs into testable, traceable scenarios.
- Push the Team: Be the conscience of the sprint — help keep teams accountable to quality, story completeness, and sprint commitments.
- Test Management: Write, execute, and manage manual test cases using tools like TestRail (or similar). Identify gaps in coverage and communicate risk.
- Cross-Functional Influence: Participate in sprint planning, retros, and stand-ups. Help shape better requirements and improve team processes.
- Collaborate within a modern .NET Core and Angular application environment — testing full-stack workflows and front-end/back-end integrations.
Flavor Stack
- Languages: C#, JavaScript, Python (you don’t need to code, but you’ll work with those who do)
- Test Frameworks: Selenium, Playwright, RestAssured
- DevOps: GitHub Actions, Docker, AWS
- Test Management: TestRail
- Agile Toolkit: Jira, Confluence, Slack, Miro
- Tech Ecosystem: Modern full-stack .NET Core backend with Angular front-end architecture
Extra Flavor
- Collaborate with engineers and SDETs obsessed with automation and quality
- Help steer the product and quality bar — not just run test cases
- Flexible work environment with strong emphasis on team success
- Opportunity to mentor junior QA and influence team culture
- Bring structure to chaos, clarity to ambiguity, and humor to sprint retros
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
5 years in software quality assurance with deep experience in manual functional, regression, and exploratory testing
Strong experience in crafting test cases and test plans from user stories, business requirements, and wireframes
Proven track record of owning quality for major features and releases
Experience working in Agile/Scrum/Kanban teams, preferably in a fast-paced digital environment
Ability to lead without authority — influencing teams toward better outcomes and higher standards
Comfort managing test data and working alongside technical teammates (SDETs, developers, DevOps, etc.)
Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal — with a talent for diplomacy and detail
Must have familiarity with testing full-stack .NET Core and Angular applications in modern web-based product environments
Bonus: Experience with TestRail, Jira, Confluence, Postman, or other tools in the QA toolkit
