Medical Assistant - Ophthalmology

Windward Eye is seeking a friendly, dependable team member to join our comprehensive ophthalmology practice. In this role, you will support both patient care and front office operations. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys helping patients and working as part of a collaborative healthcare team. You will work closely with our ophthalmologists to provide high-quality care that maintains eye health and improves vision. Punctuality and reliability are essential to ensure smooth clinic flow and consistent patient care. Prior medical office experience is helpful, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Welcome and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner
• Verify insurance and update patient information
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments
• Answer phone calls to assist patients with scheduling, questions, and coordination of care
• Assist in communicating with referring physician offices and pharmacies.
• Escort patients to exam rooms and assist with clinic flow
• Interview patients and document medical history
• Measure visual acuity and perform basic vision testing
• Check intraocular pressure and administer eye drops as directed by the physician
• Prepare charts and assist with maintaining organized medical records

Requirements:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability
• Ability to multitask in a busy clinical environment
• Basic computer skills
• Medical office experience preferred but not required

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
