Summary: To plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that helpstudents learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and socialdevelopment in the 21st century.Qualifications: Vermont State Elementary Teaching Certification or Bachelor Degree and working toward ateaching certificationEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Leads in the classroom by taking responsibility for all students learning, while encouragingstudent voice and choice. Provides an environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship withcaring adults by encouraging a climate and culture that is inviting, respectful, supportive,inclusive, and flexible. Treats students as individuals by maintaining high expectations for all students, byappreciating differences and valuing contributions. Works collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their studentsby improving communication and collaboration between the school and the home andcommunity.
Knows the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of intellectual,physical, social, and emotional development of students. Plans instruction appropriate for students by collaborating with colleagues. Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction by knowing when and how to usetechnology to maximize student learning. Helps students develop critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills by encouragingstudents to ask questions, think creatively, and be curious.
Uses a variety of methods to assess what each student has learned by using multipleindicators to evaluate student progress. Creates an active and engaging learning environment where students are inspired toobtain a deeper knowledge of the subjects they're studying.
