Associate Director of Student Support Services
Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union comprises four Vermont village and town school districts to provide learning environments for students from pre-kindergarten to grade twelve. Educating students from Windsor, West Windsor, Hartland, and Weathersfield, school structures include one K-6 elementary school, two K-8 elementary/middle schools, one K-12 school, and a supervisory union-wide early childhood educational program. Windsor High School also serves students from Cornish, New Hampshire. High school choice is available for students residing in Hartland and Weathersfield, which do not operate public high schools.

We are currently seeking an Associate Director of Student Support Services whose primary role is to support the organization and delivery of special education services in the Supervisory Union. During the fall of FY25, this position will have additional Director responsibilities to cover a partial leave of the Director of Student Support Services.
Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Special Education or other special education related field; VTermont Director of Special Education endorsement or documented eligibility for the same or reciprocity with another state. Several years of special education teacher or school psychologist school based experience combined with special education administration experience is required.
Necessary Skills: exemplary interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to supervise and evaluate special education staff; proven team collaboration skills; experience and skills with psycho-educational testing and assessment results; understanding of the budgetary process; thorough knowledge and experience with special education law and rules; knowledge of various VT special education data reports, monitoring, compliance, and medicaid experience
Reports To: Director of Student Support Services and Superintendent
Responsibilities:
The Associate Director of Student Support Services assist the Director of Student Support Services as follows:
1. Supervision and evaluation of special education staff, including Early Childhood Special Education program and Early Childhood staff.
2. Recruitment and hiring of special education staff
3. LEA representation
4. Assist with the following special education tasks:
a. Budget development and monitoring
b. Child Count
c. Medicaid compliance
d. Documentation and Compliance
e. Service Plan development
G. Staff training and development for over 100 professional and related support staff members.
5. Assist in providing instructional leadership within the special education staff
6. Support inter-agency and other community-based relationships and collaboration
7. Assist with needs assessment and special education program development to serve students on IEPs
8. Support collaboration among all staff within the multi-tiered system of support
9. Provide professional development opportunities or direct training in support of the Director
10. Provide any other professional assistance as requested by the Director.
