Summary
The Health Aide works under the supervision, training, and direction of a professional school-registered nurse. Responsibilities include providing healthcare, basic life support, and first aid to students; performing clerical and secretarial tasks; and completing other duties as delegated by the Registered Nurse. The Health Aide is also responsible for responding to and managing medical emergencies on school grounds.

Description Of Job Tasks
- Attend to students visiting the health office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide health care and/or first aid according to established policies & protocols.
- Provide support for students' mental health needs.
- Complete pediculosis checks as necessary.
- Follow established Healthcare Plans and treat students according to their known health conditions. Requires knowledge of reported health conditions for all students in the school.
- Evaluate students' health status to determine appropriate action, including transport, referral to a healthcare provider, exclusion from school due to infectious symptoms, or return to class. Consult with the school nurse as needed and collaborate with parents, teachers, and school administration when appropriate.
- Administer medications as delegated by the school nurse, in accordance with established policies and protocols. Under the delegatory clause, receive training from the nurse to administer oral, inhaled, and injectable medications.
- Perform delegated medical procedures, including but not limited to G-Tube feedings, urinary catheterizations, bathroom transfers and hygiene care, oxygen care and maintenance.
- Document a comprehensive account of each health office visit in the student information system, including reported symptoms, observations and assessments, medication administration, and visit outcome.

- Administering Medications in a School Setting certification is required.
- Completion of school health aide training under the School Nurse upon hire.
- CPR and First Aid certification required upon hire.
- All personnel must fully complete Windsor Charter Academy's safety training, ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate). Staff must demonstrate understanding and implementation of these protocols as part of their responsibility to maintain a safe and secure learning environment.
- Associate's Degree or higher preferred.
- Related experience in a school setting.
- Related experience in a health care setting.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
