Duties
- Safely administer prescribed medications to residents following all state healthcare regulations and facility protocols
- Monitor residents’ vital signs and observe for adverse reactions or changes in condition
- Assist with resident personal care activities, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding assistance
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and medication records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, and memory care activities
- Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate resident care plans
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information
- Assist with manual handling tasks and heavy lifting safely while caring for residents with mobility challenges
- Participate in ongoing training on first aid, CPR, basic life support (BLS), and emergency procedures to ensure safety at all times
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Medication Aide recognized by the State Board of Nursing or relevant licensing authority
- Proven experience working with geriatric patients in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while providing resident personal care assistance
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver communication and resident engagement
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Certification in first aid and CPR required; additional certifications in hospice or Alzheimer’s care are a plus
