Route Development Specialist
(Hybrid Outside Sales & Route Technician – Recurring Window Cleaning)
Position Overview
The Route Development Specialist is a hybrid field role responsible for building recurring window cleaning routes from zero, personally servicing early-stage accounts, and transferring completed routes to production technicians once they reach full capacity. This role blends outside sales and hands-on service work and is designed to fuel long-term, scalable branch growth.
This is not a one-time job sales role. All sales are recurring service accounts that contribute directly to building profitable, transferable routes.
Core Mission
- Build recurring window cleaning routes to $500 per day, Monday–Friday
- Personally service early-stage routes to ensure quality and retention
- Transfer completed routes to production technicians
- Repeat the process in new sections of the branch territory
Schedule & Work Structure
- 40 hours per week
- Schedule is a mix of:
- Sales Mode (outside sales activity)
- Tech Mode (performing window cleaning services)
- Early route stages are sales-heavy
- Tech days increase as routes fill
- When no service work is scheduled, sales activity is required
Compensation Structure
This position is paid in multiple ways, depending on assigned work mode.
Route Completion Definition
A route is considered complete when it meets all of the following:
- Monday–Friday service schedule
- $500 per day in recurring revenue
- Pricing and quality standards met
- First services completed and retention verified
Once complete, the route is transferred to a production technician and the Route Development Specialist begins building a new territory section.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Responsibilities (Sales Mode)
- Prospect businesses and residential areas through door-to-door and walk-in outreach
- Sell recurring window cleaning services only
- Build density within assigned territories
- Follow pricing guidelines and service standards
- Track activity and opportunities in CRM
Technician Responsibilities (Tech Mode)
- Perform high-quality window cleaning services
- Maintain route efficiency and daily production goals
- Deliver excellent customer experience
- Identify upsell and referral opportunities (recurring only)
Route Development Responsibilities
- Grow route revenue consistently toward the $500/day target
- Maintain account quality and retention
- Prepare routes for clean handoff to production
- Repeat route development process as assigned
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
- Weekly recurring revenue added
- Accounts sold
- Route revenue growth rate
- Daily production during tech days
- Quality scores and callbacks
- Time to route completion
Required Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and self-management skills
- Comfortable with door-to-door and face-to-face sales
- Willingness to perform physical labor in outdoor conditions
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to switch between sales and service responsibilities seamlessly
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outside sales experience
- Window cleaning or home service experience
