What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volunteer Board member position at Windhorse Integrative Mental Health?
Windhorse Board of Directors Job Description
In 2026, Windhorse Integrative Mental Health (IMH) will be appointing between one to three board members to our nonprofit Board.
Windhorse IMH celebrates over 30 years of delivering life enhancing outcomes for our clients and their families as they recover from extreme mind states. An alternative to hospitalization, Windhorse uses mindfulness-informed clinical teams and therapeutic households to support our clients’ recovery journey. Our program puts the client at the center to significantly promote awareness and connection, avoiding the fragmentation often found in mental health care. We invite you to explore more at windhorseimh.org.
To support our mission, we are expanding our board with these key objectives: to replace retiring members, to increase the diversity of expertise on the board, to contribute to our next generation strategic plan and to enhance governance and transition planning. Windhorse IMH is well managed with a proven executive team. We have a strong balance sheet and have recently completed capital investment in our locations, ensuring they’re well-positioned for the future.
We are seeking volunteer board members who bring a contemplative practice, experience in business management, a background in mental health or healthcare, and a strong alignment with the Windhorse approach.
A primary responsibility of the Board of Directors is to participate in policy or planning meetings held monthly. Meetings typically last about 90 minutes. As you can see, we expect the board to be an active one and to ensure that the organization has the leadership to fulfill its mission. Windhorse has centers in Northampton MA, San Luis Obispo CA; and Portland OR. Board members can reside anywhere across the United States, however, we do have a current need to add a Massachusetts-based board member. We are also seeking a board member to serve as Treasurer.
