Here are a few of the daily responsibilities of a Director of Nursing:
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc. as necessary
- Ensure that direct nursing care be provided by a licensed nurse, a CNA, and/or a nurse aide trainee qualified to perform the procedure
- Review nurses’ notes to ensure that they are informative and descriptive of the nursing care being provided, that they reflect the resident’s response to the care, and that such care is provided in accordance with the resident’s wishes
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
- Responsible for weekend management coverage and on-call duties on a rotating basis or as needed.
- Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service training classes.
- Successful Completion of the CDC Nursing Home Infection Prevention Training Course (Wed Based)
Qualifications:
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing. Associate or higher preferred.
- Must have a current state license to practice as a registered nurse (RN). Current CPR certification desired.
- Minimum two years’ experience in long term care management. Prefer long term care experience as a floor nurse or like position. .
- Excellent understanding of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing facilities.
- Ability to lead, motivate, educate and evaluate others.
- Must have excellent assessment, planning, organization, communication and interpersonal skills with an understanding of person centered care.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including periodic weekends, holidays and off shifts.
- Ability to work well with an interdisciplinary team and health care providers.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport with team members.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to communicate orally and through written reports and other documents relating to resident, staff and others. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
