POSITION SUMMARY

The Fremont County Association of Governments (FCAG) is seeking a professional, creative, and community-minded Communications Coordinator to support communications and outreach efforts for FCAG and its divisions. This position will play an important role in strengthening public awareness of FCAG programs, services, initiatives, and events through coordinated messaging, social media management, public engagement, and outreach support.


The Communications Coordinator will assist in developing and distributing public-facing content, maintaining a consistent and professional organizational presence, and helping ensure that information shared with the public is clear, timely, accurate, and accessible. This role is ideal for an individual with strong communication skills, sound judgment, creativity, and a commitment to public service.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Communications and Content Development (35%)

- Draft, edit, and publish public-facing communication materials for FCAG and its divisions, including announcements, flyers, notices, promotional materials, and general outreach content.

- Assist in developing messaging that clearly communicates organizational programs, services, meetings, events, and initiatives.

- Help maintain consistency in written and visual communications across departments and divisions.


Social Media Management (25%)

- Manage and maintain FCAG and division social media platforms.

- Develop, schedule, and publish social media content that supports public awareness and community engagement.

- Monitor social media activity and assist in responding to or routing public inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

- Track social media engagement and identify opportunities to improve public reach and messaging effectiveness.


Public Engagement and Outreach (20%)

- Support FCAG’s engagement with the public by helping develop outreach materials and promoting events, services, and initiatives.

- Assist in strengthening relationships with community members, stakeholders, and partner organizations through effective communication and outreach efforts.

- Help coordinate communication support for community events, public meetings, and other outreach activities.


Website and Digital Content Support (10%)

- Assist in maintaining and updating website content to ensure information remains current, accurate, and relevant.

- Help support digital accessibility, clarity, and overall professionalism of FCAG’s online presence.


Administrative and Organizational Support (10%)

- Maintain organized files of communication materials, templates, outreach resources, and public information content.

- Provide communication-related support to staff as assigned, including proofreading, formatting, and preparing public-facing materials.

- Perform other duties as assigned to support the effective operation of the organization.


Other responsibilities may be required as directed by management to support the efficient operation of the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS


- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, business administration, public administration, or a related field is preferred.


- Experience: One to three years of experience in communications, public outreach, customer engagement, marketing, administrative support, or a related field preferred.


- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional content for a variety of audiences.


- Social Media and Digital Skills: Familiarity with social media platforms, digital communication tools, and basic content development practices.


- Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.


- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact professionally and courteously with the public, staff, community partners, and stakeholders.


- Technical Skills: Proficiency in standard office software, email, word processing, and related administrative tools. Familiarity with website editing platforms and graphic design tools is beneficial.


- Judgment and Professionalism: Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality when appropriate, and represent the organization in a professional manner.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


- Prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and working at a computer.

- Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.

- Occasional standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of light office materials or event supplies.

- Occasional attendance at public meetings, community events, or outreach activities.

- Limited local travel within Fremont County may be required.

- Some schedule flexibility may be needed to support evening meetings or community engagement activities.
