JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst -CPA

DEPARTMENT: Wind River Energy Commission

SUPERVISION: Wind River Energy Commission

SALARY: $34 an hour depending on experience

CAREER STATUS: Part-time (6 months) and will be evaluated after the 6 month period

GENERAL STATEMENT:

This is a key management position responsible for effective development, implementation and administration of the Financial Records Analyst – WREC seeks candidates with education and experience in managing and analyzing financial and accounting records. Qualified candidates will have college-level education, preferably a bachelor of science in accounting, bachelor of business administration in accounting, or a bachelor of accountancy. Additionally, candidates should have work experience organizing and analyzing financial and accounting records. Finally, candidates must have a detailed understanding and demonstrated work experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consolidate and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc) taking into account company’s goals and financial standing
  • Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
  • Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks
  • Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking and process analysis
  • Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models
  • Identify trends, advise company and recommend actions based on sound analysis
  • Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts
  • Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data
  • Gain and update job knowledge to remain informed about novelty in the field
  • Consult with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making within the broadest scope
  • Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function

Performance Standards and evaluation factors shall include but not be limited to:

Financial analysts must have strong technical, analytical and communication skills to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic recommendations. These include:

· Technical skills: The ability to build and monitor financial models, manage large data sets and use tools such as Excel and business intelligence platforms to organize and test data.

· Analytical and critical thinking capabilities: The ability to interpret trends, assess risk and align recommendations with financial goals and organizational strategies.

· Communication and presentation skills: The ability to summarize relevant findings clearly and present recommendations that inform the Energy Commission.

· Industry knowledge and business acumen: An understanding of how specific sectors operate and generate revenue, and an ability to respond to regulations and market shifts and consider financial data in the context of a company’s strategy and risk profile.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Accounting with five years supervisory experience in Government Fund Accounting, program planning, budgeting, and contract and grant administration. Official college transcripts must accompany application.

· A Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation is preferred.

· 1-2 years of experience in financial analysis or similar role

· Experience with OMB Rules and Regulations that govern contract and grant administration and tribal government.

· Work experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

· Experience with the management of investment and trust accounts.

· Experience with general ledger, cash flow, and budgeting management systems.

· Experience with current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws and business environments

· Experience with QuickBooks

· Excellent communicate skills and the ability to prepare and present clear concise reports, both verbally and in writing.

Pay: $34.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
