- A successful school psychologist at Winchester High School interprets a variety of psychological diagnostic tests and has comprehensive, insightful diagnostic skills.
- Knows specific approaches and tools to help students, teachers, and families better address all factors that interfere with the learning process; has experience working collaboratively to address student needs; writes IEP goals/benchmarks and progress reports, and collaborates in IEP meetings.
- Has an appreciation for students from diverse family and socioeconomic backgrounds; has an open mind, a sense of humor, and the ability to calmly approach stressful situations.
- Psychologist duties may include, but are not limited to: Student assessment, including administration of psychological evaluations of cognitive skills, attention, memory, social-emotional functioning, and student observation. Report writing summarizing psychological, academic, and other testing associated with initial, 3-year evaluations, as well as additional testing determined by the team.
- Participation in special education Team meetings, school mental health, and/or counseling team. Consultation with school administration, related service providers, general educators, and special educators. Counseling groups (social skills, friendship, etc.)
- Additional Duties: Attend department meetings, participate with colleagues as a contributing member of the school community, and contribute to school effectiveness. Be actively involved in professional development
