We are seeking a dedicated teacher with a solid grasp of the English language and a wealth of knowledge regarding literature, reading, writing, public speaking, and debate. He or she should be highly organized with the talent to adapt and develop a comprehensive English program. He or she must be able to implement student engagement techniques that motivate and inspire students to understand literature and language in both spoken and written form. He or she should be committed to implementing the highest standards of instruction and help each student achieve success in meeting or exceeding the academic requirements set forth for that class. Someone that is courageous in his or her faith, prepared to navigate and persevere through complex situations, and ready to execute his or her plans for transforming our students into lifelong learners. WCA is looking for a “gamechanger” that empowers students to become leaders.
Responsibilities
- Administer standard-aligned curriculum including curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans; develop interim, midterm, and final exam assessments as needed
- Develop and implement ambitious lesson plans that are targeted with end goals of students’ performance at or above grade level expectations
- Provide engaging, motivating, and rigorous instruction in whole-class and individual settings
- Provide academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students as needed
- Work to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices
- Use feedback to make productive changes in performance

- Communicate regularly and proactively with students and families
- Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development and learning opportunities
- Teach and enforce school-wide systems, rules and consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all times

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and endorsement in English 9-12
- Valid Tennessee Certificate
- Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position
