Mechanical Engineer - Facilities Essential Job Functions:
- Design, operate, and maintain essential mechanical systems including HVAC, compressed air, process piping, and industrial ventilation to support ammunition production and facility needs.
- Lead mechanical engineering projects such as equipment retrofits, utility expansions, and energy efficiency upgrades—ensuring timelines, budgets, and safety protocols are met.
- Perform inspections and root cause analysis to proactively resolve mechanical failures, reduce downtime, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Partner with safety, production, and environmental teams to ensure all systems meet compliance requirements including OSHA, ATF, EPA, and DoD regulations specific to ammunition manufacturing.
- Oversee contractors, manage technical documentation, and maintain up-to-date system drawings, standard operating procedures, and maintenance records.
- Bachelor’s degree* in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 3 years of experience in facilities or mechanical engineering in a manufacturing or defense-related environment
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems used in ammunition or explosives manufacturing preferred
- Familiar with NFPA, ASHRAE, and OSHA codes as well as ATF and DoD facility safety standards
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CMMS, and engineering documentation tools
- Must posses a valid US Drivers License
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. To meet the government-facility requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen.
