Position Overview
The CMM Programmer is responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CMM inspections using PC-DMIS. You will develop inspection plans, analyze measurement data, support AS9100/AS9102 documentation, and collaborate closely with quality personnel to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and operate CMM equipment using PC-DMIS
- Develop detailed inspection plans, part setups, and work instructions based on engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T
- Perform first article (AS9102), in-process, and final inspections
- Analyze inspection results and support root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate inspection records and support audit readiness
- Verify out-of-tolerance dimensions using alternate measurement methods
- Assist with calibration, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts
- Collaborate with quality staff
- 3 years of CMM programming/inspection experience in aerospace, defense, or AS9100-regulated manufacturing
- Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and dimensional metrology
- Experience with PC-DMIS (preferred) or similar CMM software
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models (STEP, IGES, etc.)
- Experience using standard inspection tools (micrometers, height gages, indicators)
- Familiarity with AS9102, DFARS, and ITAR is a plus
- Strong math skills (geometry, decimals, trig, etc.)
- Consistent, punctual attendance required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior inspection experience required
- Prior CMM experience required (setup, running programs, interpreting results)
- CMM programming experience (PC-DMIS preferred)
