Events Manager (Fall/Winter/Spring) - Wilsonville High School

 

 

Overview of Position:

The Fall Events Manager provides support for the season’s home athletic events for the fall season. They provide both competing teams and coaches with assistance around facility and equipment usage during competitions. They also assist with crowd supervision as needed and emergency response for any incidents that may occur at the facility. This position is under the supervision of the school’s Athletic Director.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Student Contact
    • Works to build good character in all students playing in and spectating events
    • Facilitates a positive environment for the competition
    • Adheres to school, District, league, OSAA, and other athletic governing bodies’ rules and policies, including ensuring non-discrimination and supporting positive sportsmanship
    • Represents the West Linn-Wilsonville School District and the program in a positive manner and serves as a role model for students
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Communicates facility information, schedule updates, and any other requested information to the Athletic Director in a timely manner
    • Supports the Athletic Director and staff in helping run smooth events at our home facilities by pre-planning and assessing previous event effectiveness, and taking constructive advice from coaches/officials
  • Equipment: 
    • Manages inventory of equipment needed for competitions
    • Manages usage, storage, and (if needed) transportation of equipment
  • Facilities:
    • Oversees and manages setting up competition facilities for teams and spectators
    • Promptly addresses & reports safety issues with facilities to appropriate personnel
  • Communication and Management:
    • Directs and coordinates with any adult volunteers or other paid staff to effectively support the school competitions
    • Actively communicates with parents, guardians, and administration regarding spectator behavior or safety concerns
  • Trainings:
    • First aid, CPR and other district provided emergency response trainings
  • Estimated Time:
    • Season length determined by OSAA, typically beginning in mid-late August and continuing through November if the season is extended for playoffs
    • Typically, the fall events coordinator would support with volleyball, cross-country, soccer and football 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and understanding of the basic aspects of the sports and competition needs
  • Ability to establish relationships and communicate effectively with both students and adults
  • Ability to carry up to 40 pounds, run, walk and drive a gator/golf cart 
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license 
  • Enthusiasm for the school and their athletic events
  • Successfully complete the District’s background check process
