What are the responsibilities and job description for the LVN/GI Technician PT position at WILSON COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL DISTRICT?
Summary: GI Technicians assist physicians and other medical professionals in GI Lab. Chiefly, they prepare patients, rooms and equipment for GI procedures. They also assist during those procedures as part of a team of GI Professionals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures that all of the equipment needed for the procedure is properly disinfected and assembled
- Performs technical skills and provides assistance to physicians, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and other professionals in the GI Lab.
- Places equipment and supplies in GI Lab and arranges instruments, according to instructions.
- Check that the equipment is in good working order.
- Assists team members to place and position patient on bed.
- Scrubs arms and hands and dons gown and gloves.
- Aids team to don gowns and gloves.
- Assist in draping patients, using sterile surgical drapes to cover the patient.
- Hands instruments and supplies to physicians, and performs other tasks as directed by the physician during the procedure.
- Puts dressings on patient following surgery.
- Washes and sterilizes equipment.
- Performs SPD duties.
- Cleans GI Lab.
- Available for on-call.
Education and/or Experience.
High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensed Vocational Nurse preferred
One year of GI Tech. experience preferred
Basic CPR
Knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
