This position is outposted to the Wilson County Health Department and is responsible for determining eligibility for Children's Medicaid programs to ensure eligible individuals receive accurate and timely benefits. Primary duties include interviewing applicants, taking and processing applications, completing eligibility reviews, verifying information, and maintaining ongoing case management in accordance with federal, state, and county policies.


This position also serves as the primary Medicaid representative for walk-in clients at the Wilson County Health Department. Responsibilities include assisting clients with Medicaid applications, eligibility questions, account updates, and verification of Medicaid benefits for programs such as WIC, CMHRP, and CMARC, as needed. Additional responsibilities include processing Presumptive Medicaid and Emergency Medicaid applications within required policy and processing timeframes. The position also provides support to Health Department staff by researching and correcting Medicaid demographic information, including dates of birth, addresses, children's names, and other identifying information to ensure accurate eligibility and benefit records.


The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to acquire, analyze, evaluate, and apply program knowledge to meet customer needs effectively. This includes researching community resources, explaining available programs and services, recommending appropriate resources, and connecting customers with external agencies and community partners that best meet their needs.


Work is performed using the North Carolina Families Accessing Services through Technology (NC FAST) eligibility system and other state and county software applications. The position requires accurate documentation, effective electronic case management, and compliance with all program requirements.

One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
**Will consider the following qualifications as a work-against**
Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science or a closely related curriculum; or graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks with at least one year of such experience being in an income maintenance program; or graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical or other public contact experience which included negotiation, interviewing, explaining information, the gathering and compiling of data, the analysis of data and/or the performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Salary : $43,788 - $73,992
