Essential Job Functions:
Business Development
The Program Lead will oversee all activities related to alternative delivery opportunities in alignment with the Project Lifecycle Process. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing Wilson & Company’s national strategy to strengthen partnerships with contractors, strategic engineering teams, and end clients engaged in alternative delivery projects.
Working closely with Sector Leads, the Program Lead will focus on increasing market share in established regions while driving expansion into emerging alternative delivery markets. Additionally, the program will actively monitor industry trends, legislation, and regulatory changes to position Wilson & Company for future opportunities and sustained growth.
Project Delivery
The Program Lead will play a critical role in advancing our alternative delivery capabilities. Unlike traditional design-bid-build projects, alternative delivery projects demand a distinct set of skills and approaches. The Program Lead will be responsible for:
- Alternative Delivery Project Management: Identifying and defining the competencies required for professionals managing alternative delivery projects.
- Success Process Development: Developing and implementing project management tools and processes tailored to alternative delivery methods, enabling our project managers to achieve success in alignment with budget, utilization, and profitability objectives.
- Subject Matter Experts: Building and leading a team of technical advisors to support project managers during procurement and final design phases.
- Collaboration: Collaborating across sectors and practices to deliver innovative, client-focused solutions.
Business Operations
The National Alternative Delivery Program Lead will hold primary responsibility for the financial performance of Wilson & Company’s entire portfolio of alternative delivery projects. This role is critical to ensuring the long-term success and sustainability of the program by overseeing key operational and business functions.
Core responsibilities include:
- Strategic Talent Management: Address gaps in alternative delivery project management and business development capabilities through targeted hiring, retention of high-performing team members, and succession planning to maintain continuity of leadership and expertise.
- Contract and Agreement Leadership: Lead teaming agreement and contract negotiations to secure favorable terms that align with organizational objectives.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks that could adversely impact project delivery and company financial security and performance.
- Financial Forecasting and Communication: Partner with Operations leadership to accurately forecast pursuit efforts and clearly communicate potential budgetary impacts. Maintain and regularly report an accurate pipeline of alternative delivery opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other members of leadership to achieve firm-wide goals and initiatives.
- Winning Work: Coordinate and lead, when appropriate, alternative delivery pursuits to support a winning program meeting the alternative delivery bookings KPI.
- Program Development: Develop the program structure needed to meet the growth and success goals for the company and the program as described above and as part of an organized Alternative Delivery Program.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Annual Pursuit Pipeline updated quarterly. Hit Rate by dollars minimum 35% with stretch to 50% Labor Bookings Goal Established Annually with Leadership
Required Experience:
This position requires a strategic mindset, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to driving operational excellence across all aspects of alternative delivery projects.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
- Relevant professional certifications and licenses are preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact within all levels of an organization, both within and outside the firm.
- Excellent collaboration and relationship-building skills.
- Strong, established relationships within the industry to support continued growth.
