The Wilmot Learning place is a fully licensed, non-profit preschool for children ages 3-5
located in bottom of the Wilmot Community Association building. For over 40 years,
WLP has prided itself on providing high-quality, well rounded, early childhood education,
using a creative curriculum to address each child’s intellectual and social well-being.
WLP offers full and half-day programming from early September through June.
Wilmot Learning Place is a community preschool that emphasizes both socialization
and pre-academic skills. The school believes in providing a safe, nurturing and
stimulating environment for preschool aged children. Encouraging each child's
individuality and sense of belonging to ensure each child has a positive learning
experience.
In our classrooms, independence, self-confidence and responsibility are encouraged as
children learn through age-appropriate free play and teacher-led activities. Children
have the opportunity to play independently, in small groups, in themed play areas in the
classroom as well as participate in a variety of educational activities. The entire class
comes together for daily for circle time, snack time, art area, special activities and
outside playtime. Self-confidence and responsibility are encouraged as children assume
the role of "helper" for the day and as they "share" items they bring from home with their
classmates during "Sharing" (show-and-tell) time. Every month a new theme is
introduced as well as a new number, color and shape. Art activities, stories and
dramatic play are based around these themes. The children are offered many sensory
experiences as well as much repetition each time new concepts are taught. Early math,
science and social studies are introduced in a fun, interactive, age-appropriate ways.
Field trips and classroom visitors are planned throughout the year to reinforce topics
presented in the classroom. Children are guided as they practice social skills when they
interact with each other during free play and organized group activities. Respect,
