Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer - Midtown/Hampstead/Mayfaire - PRN

Purpose:

Performs technical procedures using ultrasound waves that require independent judgment based on knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and the normal and abnormal variation.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Verifies patients identification and physician’s orders.
• Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures while performing studies.
• Obtains pertinent diagnostic examinations for physicians in relation to the ultrasound.
• Correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.
• Consults with referring physicians regarding patient’s previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
• Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed.
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
• Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure. Send images to PAC’s system.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room in which the procedure takes place.
• Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies
• Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required

Other Duties:

Perform additional duties as assigned by manager.

Qualifications:

Required:

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Certified.
• CPR Certified.
• Thorough understanding of their ultrasound equipment, including knobology and camera settings.
• Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft applications.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred:  

• One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist or in a hospital/imaging center.

ADA Physical Demands:

Rarely (Less than .5 hrs/day)  Occasionally (0.6 – 2.5 hrs/day) Frequently (2.6 – 5.5 hrs/day) Continuously (5.6 – 8.0 hrs/day)
