Purpose:
Works with patients and families as an advocate for health maintenance of children and promotes a positive public image in all interactions with families.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains patient confidentiality
- Performs telephone triage for pediatric patients
- Taking complete, accurate messages from patients and relaying them to appropriate physician
- Schedules, coordinates and reschedules all patient appointments (includes office, outpatient procedures, hospitals, referrals, and other medical facilities)
- Utilizes nursing process effectively in assessing patient needs and planning appropriate follow-up/intervention
- Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, provides accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol, interprets Physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor procedures, and performs related tasks as directed.
- Documents assessment and interventions thoroughly and concisely
- Develops patient education materials, triage protocols, and clinical guidelines in collaboration with physicians to promote quality care for Pediatric Patients
- Uses computer system efficiently and accurately
- Provides patient/staff education
- Performs specialty procedures as trained and as needed, as well as assisting M.D. with patients in office
- Supports the Provider and actively promotes efficient operation and customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned
Other Duties:
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- North Carolina or Compact RN license
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- BLS Certification
- Prefer experience working in Physician Office or 2 Years Pediatric experience
- Organizational and customer service skills are essential
- Ability to work under pressure and interact with people in a pleasant, supportive, professional manner at all times
Preferred:
Computer experience a plus
