- Patient Care/Other Duties
- Participates as a team member in support of the total perioperative process
- Organizes time, equipment, supplies and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management
- Supervises and directs patient care in an endoscopy room
- Organizes nursing activities efficiently and effectively
- Delegates activities appropriate to the abilities of available staff members
- Considers cost containment by using supplies economically and in effective turnover time
- Assists with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability
- Addresses patients to the endoscopy room observing policy and procedure, safety requirements, and patient needs
- Identifies the patient and correct procedure according to policy and procedure and communicates with all members of the surgical team
- Reviews patients medical record and needs to plan care with other health care team members
- Provides comfort and reassurance to patient
- Maintains patient’s privacy and dignity
- Explains procedures and care to the patient
- Prepares room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed
- Assembles and provides properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure
- Assists with the proper and safe positioning of the patient
- Administers medication per order of physician and based on condition of patient
- Monitors patient condition and maintains accurate documentation, pre-procedure, during procedure, and post-procedure
- Provides continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting records accordingly
- Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician
- Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction
- Documents patient care records and other forms accurately following policies and procedures
- Accurately advises other responsible for care of the patient about the patient’s status
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school graduate or GED certification
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Registered Nurse with active license in appropriate state
- Certification in CPR
- IV Conscious Sedation training
- Evidence of leadership qualities
- Strong Ethical and Moral References
- Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS
- Ambulatory surgery center experience
- Computer literate
- Endoscopy experience
