Busy Gastroenterology practice is searching for a Full Time Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for an immediate opening in our triage department. Candidate must have strong medical terminology knowledge, EMR experience, and experience in a clinical office setting.
The position is Full Time, 8-5, Monday-Friday.
Position duties include (but not limited to):
- Provide effective and timely communication between patients and providers.
- Notify patients of test results upon review by provider.
- Answer phone and triage calls, taking messages and relaying messages to the
Providers when appropriate.
- Assist schedulers to prioritize referrals, so that they may be scheduled in an
appropriate time frame.
- Schedule radiology procedures as needed.
- Obtain prior authorization for prescriptions and radiological testing as needed.
- Administer IM and SQ injections to patients within your scope of practice.
- Draw Blood.
- Provide patient teaching.
- Run routine and STAT CBC’s.
- Responsible for routing results to the providers for review.
- Review the after- hours log and phone line, sending messages to the appropriate
provider.
- Generate and obtain consent for holding of anticoagulants when indicated.
- EMR data entry.
Requirements:
· Current Medical Assistant Certification or License
· Strong communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
· EMR experience
· Medical office clinical experience
· Strong medical terminology skills
· Multi-tasking abilities
