Responsibilities
- Welcome patients warmly, verify insurance information, and assist with the intake process
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow efficiently using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and current medications with accuracy
- Prepare patients for examinations and assist with routine clinical procedures, including phlebotomy and medication administration
- Maintain thorough and accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, ICD coding, and procedure entries
- Support clinical staff across primary care and outpatient workflows, including assisting with urgent patient needs that arise during the clinic day
- Manage medical records securely and ensure compliance with privacy and confidentiality standards
- Assist with EHR management, ensuring accurate charting, timely updates, and proper documentation of patient interactions
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or outpatient clinic with strong knowledge of medical terminology and documentation practices
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and familiarity with outpatient clinical operations
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus
- Strong background in primary care preferred; supplemental experience in urgent care or emergency medicine is highly valued
- Solid understanding of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and basic clinical procedures
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally and compassionately
- Ability to multitask effectively in a busy clinic environment while maintaining strong attention to detail
