Key Responsibilities
- Gathers and reviews all relevant demographic information and insurance documentation to ensure correct reimbursement is obtained for rendered services/procedures
- Confirms accuracy of all patient demographics prior to surgery
- Verifies active insurance coverage and processes prior authorizations for surgical procedures at least 2 weeks prior to surgery date
- Works with department BOS (Business Office Specialist) to ensure all self-pay/specialty lens and out of pocket expenses are collected at least 2 weeks prior to surgery date
- Alerts management of any issues with prior authorization or prepayments
- Alerts management of any no show fees to be collected prior to rescheduling surgery
- Responds to phone calls from patients, physicians, medical staff and coworkers to determine the urgency of the situation and then suggests appropriate handling based on work flow

- 1-3 years of previous surgical scheduling experience
- 1-3 years of related healthcare, registration, physicians, patients, and their families
