POSITION: Temporary Camp Counselors for Expect Success Summer Camp TK-8 • 14-16 Positions • Mandatory Staff Training: May – exact date TBD • Planning/preparation evening meetings in May (3-4 hours in total; exact dates TBD) • Camp Dates: June 8th – July 10th (23 days, 8 hours) • No Camp on June 19th and July 3rd • Shift: 10:45 am - 5:15 pm SALARY: $25.00/hour ~ 6 hours/day JOB SUMMARY: Camp Counselors will help with the Expect Success Summer Camp by working with students in reading, math games, science activities, enrichment, and recreation. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • AA degree or 48 units; or ESSA compliant assessment required • Experience related to TK-12 educational systems and sites; • Some experience desired in attending camp as a youth or working at a camp as an adult; • Some experience required in developmental and implementation of children/youth and activities. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: • Effectively work with students of different ages, abilities, and backgrounds; • Assist in planning and implementing recreation periods and enrichment activities; • Work effectively with students and assist with behavior management, discipline, interpersonal actions, and act as a role model; • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with program and school personnel; • Learn basic first aid and safety requirements; • Communicate effectively in oral and written expression; • Physically perform job tasks; • Follow directions and function within the program, school policies, and procedures; • Perform other duties as assigned.
