We are seeking an experienced Cultivation and Irrigation Supervisor to join our team at Willoway Nurseries, Inc.
Job Description
This role requires a strong understanding of horticultural practices and the ability to lead a team of growers in managing crop production. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing irrigation cycles, plant nutrient needs, and environmental controls to ensure optimal crop growth and meet sales deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Manage irrigation cycles and pumphouses to optimize water usage and crop growth.
- Oversee plant nutrient applications, including dry fertilizer, fertigation, and acids, to promote healthy crop development.
- Maintain environmental controls to provide ideal growing conditions for crops.
- Ensure crops meet quality standards and deadlines.
- IDentify pest pressure and collaborate with the Plant Healthcare Team to develop effective control strategies.
- Maintain physical structures of the growing area and work with the Physical Plant team to address any issues.
- Document crop history and actions taken.
- Creatively address causes of crop loss and scrap.
- Lead, train, and manage a small team of growers to achieve production goals.
Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in a horticultural or agricultural field.
Work Schedule
The Cultivation and Irrigation Supervisor will work Monday-Friday, 7am-4:30pm, with rotational weekend shifts as needed.
