About Willow Lake Day Camp:
Willow Lake is a premier day camp located on a beautiful 35-acre campus in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. We offer a wide range of activities including sports, aquatics, arts, and adventure, with a focus on building friendships, confidence, and lifelong skills in campers ages 3–14.
Position Overview:
The Ceramics Specialists work together as a team to lead engaging, hands-on ceramics activities for campers of all ages. Specialists guide campers through projects using clay and other sculptural media, helping them explore creativity and develop skills while working in a supportive, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a small team of Ceramics Specialists to plan and lead daily sessions for campers ages Pre-K through 8th grade.
- Teach age-appropriate techniques such as hand-building, sculpting, glazing, and decorating.
- Support campers in expressing creativity and building confidence through their projects.
- Maintain a safe and organized ceramics studio, including tools, supplies, and materials.
- Assist with glazing and finishing processes (firing if applicable to camp facilities).
- Work closely with group counselors to engage all campers and encourage participation.
Qualifications:
- Background in ceramics, art education, or experience leading creative projects with children.
- Familiarity with clay, glazing, and ceramics studio practices.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with fellow specialists.
- Creativity, patience, and enthusiasm for working with kids of all ages.
