Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure health stability
- Support residents with medication administration following prescribed schedules and safety protocols
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care techniques and behavior management strategies
- Operate manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts safely to assist with mobility and transfers while preventing injury
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring proper sanitation
- Document care activities accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems to ensure seamless communication among care team members
- Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a positive atmosphere
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments is highly preferred
- Familiarity with caring for seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, or those requiring memory care is advantageous
- Knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer's support strategies, and behavior management techniques is essential
- Hands-on experience with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, manual handling (including Hoyer lifts)
- Experience working with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems or similar documentation tools is beneficial
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle physical demands associated with caregiving roles is necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills for working effectively with residents, families, and team members in group home or retirement home settings are important
