The unpaid Therapist Intern works closely with Social Services Department staff and assists in providing clinical services to patients and their families as required by the intern’s educational requirements.

About the Job:
The unpaid Therapist Intern works closely with Social Services Department staff and assists in providing clinical services to patients and their families as required by the intern’s educational requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assists clinicians in conducting various group therapies, including but not limited to trauma process groups, break work sessions, and 12-step group.
- Advanced students may have the opportunity to work with patients doing psychosocial assessments, crisis interventions and create/run their own groups.
- Identifies problems and creates interventions to facilitate patient’s transition back into the community.
- Conducts family therapy sessions.
- Maintains routine contact with referral sources and outpatient providers.
- Coordinates discharge and aftercare planning.
- Working towards a Master’s Degree in Social Work or related counseling field from an accredited Master’s program required.
- Currently eligible for supervision leading to LCSW, LPC or LCPC.
