What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inventory Control and Logistics Coordinator position at Willo Products Company, Inc.?
Willo Products began as a metal fabrication company manufacturing miscellaneous and structural steel before converting its product lines to detention locks and other detention equipment in the 1970s. Today, Willo Products locking devices, hollow metal products, and other detention equipment are used in more than 1,500 jails. The company provides locking device upgrades and retrofits, replacement control panels, CCTV systems, and intercom systems to facilities ranging from 2-cell jails to 2,250-bed facilities. They also offer replacement parts, service, and preventative maintenance contracts.
Key responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive, inspect, and document incoming raw materials, parts, and supplies; verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Ensure all received materials meet quality and safety standards before release to production.
- Prepare, stage and schedule outgoing shipments of finished goods according to customer specifications, labeling, and carrier requirements.
- Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Maintain accurate shipping and receiving records in the company’s ERP or warehouse management system.
Inventory Control
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Monitor and reconcile material movements between warehouse and production areas.
- Identify inventory discrepancies and work with supervisors to investigate and correct root causes.
- Support implementation of lean inventory practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with Purchasing Department to maintain adequate inventory levels.
Warehouse & Material Handling
- Stage and deliver materials to production lines according to the production schedule.
- Organize and maintain warehouse storage areas for efficient access and safe handling of materials.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and rotation of raw materials and finished products (FIFO).
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and safe warehouse environment in compliance with 5S and OSHA standards.
- Coordinate with purchasing, production, and project management teams to ensure timely delivery and shipment schedules.
The ideal candidate will possess a High School diploma or equivalent. They will have 3-5 years’ experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control or warehouse operations – preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping.
- Proficient in using ERP or inventory management systems.
- Ability to interpret packing slips, bills of lading, and production documentation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production and logistics teams.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and work on feet for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift certification or experience operating powered industrial trucks.
- Good driving record – ability to operate company vehicle for movement of materials between manufacturing location and company HQ.
- Experience with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement processes.
- Familiarity with quality control, lot tracking, or ISO procedures.
- Knowledge of ERP software.
Working Conditions
- Primarily a manufacturing warehouse environment with exposure to machinery, forklifts, and moderate noise.
- Must wear appropriate PPE (safety shoes, eyewear, gloves, etc.) and follow all company safety policies.
May require occasional overtime or weekend work to meet production or shipping deadlines.
This position will be based at Willo’s Manufacturing location, located at 112 Lenwood Rd SW, Decatur, AL 35601 with frequent visits to Willo’s Headquarters location at 714 Willo Industrial Drive SE, Decatur, AL 35601.
Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
