Job Purpose:
The Payroll Specialist will process semi-monthly payroll for 800 employees using Ceridian Dayforce for salaried, hourly and commissioned employees. This full time position requires onsite work 4 days a week/1 day home office.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Days and hours of full –time position are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hybrid

Job Purpose:

Essential Job Functions:
- Accountable for processing payroll for assigned companies accurately and on time
- Process payroll in a multi-state, fast-paced, corporate environment utilizing a combination of automated timesheet and payroll system and excel reports
- Audit employee time and labor data submitted by various offices and interact with supervisors as required to verify data and resolve discrepancies
- Process payroll in a multi-state, fast-paced, corporate environment
- Establish and ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other deductions of employee paychecks
- Assist with balancing of payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies
- Analyze and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, processing voids, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns
- Processes garnishments and communicate garnishment information to all parties
- Work with payroll system to ensure that the company is in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, establishing state tax, unemployment tax and local city/territory accounts as necessary. Responsible for monitoring and completing tax filings as necessary.
- Maintain details for the divisions assigned. This may include managing and distributing reports, updating pay information, managing communication on separations and processing final pay
- Pull various payroll reports from HRIS system
- Perform Verifications of Employment
- Research and gather required documents to set up required tax accounts in new states where companies operate. Research payroll tax payments and data discrepancies with federal, state and local agencies, and work with tax agencies as well as internal staff for resolution
- A minimum of 5 years complex payroll processing experience in large, multi-state environment
- Ability to work full days in-office regularly with minimal supervision
- A minimum of an Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree, or comparable experience
- Must have experience with multi-state payroll, garnishments, and automated timesheets
- Proven experience and understanding of payroll tax and payroll accounting issues
- Proven ability to complete work accurately and with attention to detail
- Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Strong and proven customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
