The Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology (EP), and Neuro Registered Nurse Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the scheduling and preparation of patients undergoing cardiovascular, electrophysiology, and neuro-interventional procedures. This position serves as a central point of communication between patients, physicians, clinical staff, anesthesia, vendors, and supporting hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule procedures based on physician orders, clinical priority, and available resources.
- Contact patients to confirm scheduling, provide pre-procedure instructions, and review relevant medical history, medications, allergies, and perform required laboratory testing.
- Ensure necessary documentation, laboratory results, imaging, and pre-procedure requirements are completed or coordinated.
- Coordinate anesthesia coverage, additional physicians, surgeons, and other specialists as required.
- Arrange vendor and sales representative support for procedures requiring specialized equipment or devices.
- Coordinate with other hospital departments, including Surgery, Anesthesia, Echo, Radiology, Laboratory, and inpatient units as necessary.
- Communicate schedule changes, cancellations, delays, and special requirements to all appropriate team members.
- Identify scheduling conflicts or missing requirements and facilitate resolution before the scheduled procedure.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
The Registered Nurse Scheduler is essential to ensuring that the patient, physicians, staff, equipment, and supporting services are appropriately coordinated to provide safe, efficient, and timely procedural care.
